The Text Customization window in version 1.7.1.

Since version 1.5, Procedural Objects includes a text customization tool that allows to add customizable graphic elements on any object's texture. In order to access Text Customization, click "Text Customization" in the Customization or General Tool to make the window appear.

The Text Customization window is divided into two section :

  • the texture visualiser on the left : preview the texture, move elements around.
    • left-click/drag to move the view around inside the visualiser,
    • single click/drop to move an element at the desired place,
    • use zoom +/- or Ctrl+Mousewheel to zoom the view inside the visualiser in and out.
  • the text fields customization area on the right : see all the text fields, add ones, customize their parameters. From the text fields list you can:
    • add text fields and color rectangles,
    • paste a field if you copied one ; to copy a text field, open its details then click the copy button to the right of the text field,
    • lock a field in place to avoid moving it with the mouse in the text visualiser,
    • move a text field layer up or down throughout the text parameters : allows to show an element below or above another one.
    • duplicate a text field using the duplicate icon,
    • delete a text field,
  • the window can be resized by holding click the bottom right corner.
Note: Text customization doesn't work on Ploppable Asphalt props and many vanilla assets.

To add text to the asset's texture :

  • Click "Add Text field" in the text fields list and change the parameters of the text with :
    • the Text field to enter text,
    • the XY position fields to precisely manipulate the text position,
    • the rotation ↻ button to rotate the text 90° to the right,
    • the color picker to choose its color if the font supports it,
    • the Size slider to change its size,
    • the Spacing slider to change spacing between each character,
    • the Scale X/Y sliders to stretch the text if needed. (useful to compensate if you moved the vertices of the PO). If you want to reset them to zero, click the 'X' or 'Y' labels of the interface.
    • the Font selector to select your font, if you have downloaded some on the workshop
Notes : Arial is the only default font. Other fonts can be found on the workshop : check out the Procedural Objects Fonts collection. To learn how to create fonts, see Making Fonts.
    • the Font style selector (N/B/I = normal/bold/italic) if the font supports it

From the Font selector, clicking on the font name will open the Characters table that shows the correspondence between what is typed in the text field and what actually appears on the PO texture.
